Abstract

The City of Surabaya is Indonesia's second largest city with an area of about 30 000 ha with a population of nearly 3 million people, most of the city of Surabaya consists of lowlands with a height of 3-6 m, while the region west of the city is hilly area with a height of 25-50 m above sea level. Some places in the City of Surabaya in the rainy season flood inundation occurs that inhibits the activity of society, with this background it is necessary that GIS can find areas prone to flooding, so the handling of the channel will be fast. The purpose of this study was to determine the location of water pumps, drainage network, the height of land of an area and to determine the height of flood water, as well as to analyze which areas classified as flood-prone areas. Data to be processed is obtained from the Office of Management and Flood Control Surabaya. The research method used in this study using the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) [1]. The results obtained with this system is expected the Government of Surabaya and the community as early as possible to anticipate the possibility of flooding that often occurs in specific areas in Surabaya Region.
