Abstract

This research focuses on local wisdom of local legend in Gresik East Java. The aim of this research is to find out local wisdom of local legend, that is the origin of place or village in Gresik The researcher applies the theory of local wisdom and theory of legend, especially local legend, and conducts a qualitative research method. The finding shows that local wisdom of the origins of villages in Gresik are the value of sense of belonging, sense of preservation, sense of developing the village; value of adventure and bravery; the value of supernatural power used to goodness and the benefit of people and the value of persistence and patience in spreading Islam, the value of devotion and obedient to parents, the tradition of studying at islamic boarding house, memorizing holly alqur’an. After getting marriage, he establishes islamic boarding house; the value of leadership and responsibility; the value of studying, hard working and doing good deed; the value of struggle; the value of goodness and appying the knowledge for the benefits of people; the value of never giving up, determination, keeping promise, and the ethical value of a mother. Local wisdom of local legend in Gresik contributes to local wisdom,that are the values of family life, personal attitude and social life. Keyword : local wisdom, legend, local legend
