Abstract

Abstract The increasing concrete construction materials needs for the current infrastructure development must be addressed by the existence of alternatives and innovations in technology. This study aims to study the effect of adding polypropylene fiber by using polymer polierta additive to the increase of compressive strength and strength of bending on concrete beam. In this experiment, we conducted experiments for the quality of K-350 concrete with variation of polypropylene fiber 0.6 kg / m³ (1%); 1.2 Kg / m³ (2%). The test for compressive strength comprised a specimen of 27 cylinders (15x30 cm) and a test for bending strength comprising a 12-bar (60x15x15 cm) test specimen tested at ages 7, 14, and 28 days for a cylinder compression test and 14, and 28 days for strong bending beams. Fresh concrete test was performed with slump-flow test, curing of test specimen until the age of concrete testing. The result showed that the addition of polypropylene fiber 0,6 kg / m³ (1%) to the concrete mixture showed an increase of compressive strength 438,31 kg / cm² or about 13,43% and flexural strength 58,05 kg / cm² or equal to 10, 25%. For the addition of polypropylene fiber fiber 1.2 kg / m³ (2%) to the concrete mixture there was addition of compressive strength 434,6 kg / cm² or equal to 12,47% and 60,75 kg / cm² bending strength or 15,38% concrete without polypropylene fiber. Thus the most optimum composition was achieved when the addition of polypropylene fiber was 1.2 kg / m³ (2%)
